Inline K33 resin filters are a type of water filter that is used to soften water by removing hard minerals, such as calcium and magnesium. These minerals can cause scale buildup in pipes and appliances, and they can also make water feel “hard” and taste unpleasant.
Inline K33 resin filters work by using a process called ion exchange. Ion exchange is a chemical process that removes dissolved ionic contaminants from water. The resin beads in the filter contain positively charged resin beads (cationic resin) or negatively charged resin beads (anionic resin). These resin beads exchange their ions with the hard minerals in the water. For example, a cationic resin will exchange its positively charged hydrogen ions for the negatively charged calcium and magnesium ions in the water. This removes the hard minerals from the water and makes it softer.
